Printing

I did these prints during my 3D session and Textiles session. I used plaster, fabric, lino, bubblewrap and wood to make these prints. i usually find it easiest to do animal prints using lino and wood, because its easier too carv into the lino/wood using the correct tools.
The plaster print didnt work very well as the plaster smashed when i pressed it into the fabric.
The photo below was made using bubblewrap and Lino, they both worked very well and were easy too work with.

Lights at the V&A

I took this picture at the V&A museums entrance. i really liked the look of the sculpture/instalment.

i was thinking of doing a t shirt print using this image, because i think it would look really cool and physcadelic.
The light is multiple spheres all attatched together with wire, hooked up to the cieling.

Versace print

I have been looking into different styles of print form various designers, and the prints from my favourite desinger Versace has really cought my eye.
I like this print design, it almost looks like money, and money look like power.
This photoshoot was named Alegra, is features Kate Moss and other male models  wearing versace underwear. I liked the way the photoshoot was set out, Kate moss is almost looming over the models, making them look like slaves. I think this would work well with A Rakes Progress, because the women in the story tend to hold all of the power over Tom and his friends.

Plaster casts - V&A

In the casting section of the V&A museum, i found these casts of a face. It didnt say who the face belonged too or when it was taken. I found it very interesting to look at, as it seemed to get a lot of minute details from the face.

The caster also managed to get the face with its eyes open which i found both freakyt and interesting.

the mould it was cast from was equally as interesing as it showed a lot of details from the face. The face looks like it could be from the victorian era, due to the style of hair in the casts. the mould looks like it was done in sections, then all lined up and joint together. I suppose this would be a good way to cast the the face as the castee would be able too breath and see what you were doing.

A Raks Progress - my thoughts

I thought that "A Rakes Progress" was a very interesting octuple of paintings, it tells the in depth story of a man (Tom Rakewell) who gains a fortune after his father passes away. In the first painting i thought it was both cruel and unfortunate that you see his servants stealing his gold when he his preoccupied with other things.

Tom Rakewell squanders his money on parties and prostitutes, in which you again see people stealing his money or other valuables whilst he is intoxicated with alocohol.

After he has spent his entire fortune, Tom decides to marry an old hag for her riches, because he is so used to the life of luxury and will not give it up and become a peasant.

The story ends, leavng the reader questioning what it all means. From what i can gather, Nick Shadow was either Toms darker self, or the devil himself. I got the feeling of the devil after i realised that he appeared everytime Tom wanted/wished for something, and at the end of the story he says that tom must repay him for what he has given to him.

Caster plasting the body

These peices were done by myself, Megan Hurst and Chloe Clements. We used casting plaster to cover the body (wrapped in clingfilm) and get the general shape of the human form. I really enjoyed doing this piece of work as it helped me kind of understand the shape of the body a little more.
Although when doing it, i didnt really like working with the plaster, it was too messy and its just a bitch to get off of your clothes.

To do this i had too lay down and keep still for about 30-45 minuets, it was very, very tiring. Overall i think it was worth the wait, as the cast turned out great,(and made me look skinnayyyy).

Richard Peter Winnett

Winnett_Victoria_secret_4.jpg6_ER_DKNY_rev_LR.jpgRichard Peter Winnett is a Artist/Illustrator who has worked for multiple designers such as dkny and Adrianna Papell. I was very interested in his work as he tends to do both detailed pieces, that show his working very precisely, and Chaotic, messy pieces that look like pieces of gallery art.

Model Megan

Megan let me take these photo's to go towards my work in A Rakes Progress, i intend to do some observational studies from these photo's, doing both realistic and emphasized limbs.
i really find the poses she was giving me interesting, they should be interesting to draw and give new clothes.

Nick Knight - Fashion Photographer

Nick Knight is a Fashion Photographer who has worked a lot with Lady Gaga, i really liked the power that comes out of his photo's, he always seems to get the photo at just the right time. He also makes his photo's look weird and out of this world.
The work he does is very digital, but the way he works with it makes it look entirely realistic. This is a type of patheway i wouldnt mind going down this year.

I started looking at him after a staff member from London College of Fashion told me he did a talk to the Fashion Illustration course. I think i will use him as a large reference in some of my projects.

Trajans Column cast - V&A museum

The casts of the the Trajan's column were assembled in the room they stand in, due too their massive size. When being built, they could be easily assembled like a jigsaw puzzle.

The casts gave opportunities for students and people not able to travel to Rome to see these wonders.
I was amazed by the sheer size of the columns, and was constantly asking questions too the museum staff about the history of the casts and columns.

Uni - Lincoln

Lincoln was one of my top choices when i was thinking about university, because the course looked so good in the past years i have seen it. I went with the intention of asking if i would be able to study fashion illustration if i was on the illustration course, The tutors told me i would be able to, but they would not be able to help me as they dont know much in that area. They then walked off half way though the conversation which i found completely rude and threw me off of the course completly. The facilities also looked pretty shit, from what i saw it was really bare and barren due to them being in a new building. I dont know if i will be applying to lincoln as the tutors have completly made me dislike it.

Drawing Megan

These drawings are my own representations of Megan Hurst, i tried to turn her into a fashion element by transforming her into this lanky model. I dont know if i like these illustrations yet, even though they were quick 10 minuete sketches.

Uni - Leeds

A few weeks ago i visited the Univercity of Lincoln open day, attending the talks to the fine art and illustration departments. Although the course's themselves looks decent and the facilities they had were also brilliant, i dont think the course was for me. The tutor giving the talks did not make the course sound overly appealing, speaking in a monotone voice does not sell it well.

In the building that houses illustration, they had floors full of Apple Macs, a floor for photography, a floor full of studio space and a floor for woodwork. The facilities i saw were very good and probably would have met nearly all of my needs.

I am not going to throw out the idea of attending leeds all together, but it will not be one of my first choices.

Hayden Williams

I have used Hayden williams as a large reference for my  personal statement and my own projects the i do at home. His work style is very detailed and refined, putting the most minute detailing in his illustrations. When you view his peices you can almost feel the passion from what he has done.
Hayden does a lot of work revolving around celebrities such as Oprah, Michelle obama (shown below), the disney villains and Miranda Priestly/Meryl streep (shown above)
